A REUNION 團聚

[Type/Book Design]: 'A Reunion in the Place Where You Are' is a publication documenting Alaya Ang’s residency at Wing Hong Elderly Centre at the start of the pandemic when the centre had to adapt to mostly online activities. It also features stories and personal accounts community members - who were each gifted with a copy of the book during what was a particularly lonely time for many. The interlocking English and Chinese text are a reference to traditional round dining tables where reunions take place, while also representing these dual cultures.

LIGHTLY, TENDRILS

[Type/Poster Design]: This exhibition explores "nature and landscape in Scotland and Barbados" through the work of artists Annalee Davis & Amanda Thomson. The show's title references tendrils; the spiral formations plants make as they grow. These shapes are mirrored in the typography itself.

Additionally, with both artists' work referencing Scotland, the typography and visual choices for the poster were influenced by Gaelic letters and the natural colours of Scottish woodlands.

Curated by Alaya Ang. CCA, Glasgow.

UN MURO / A WALL

A concertina book with images from Google Streetview of either side of the US-Mexico border. The book itself sits as a wall. The Mexican images on on side and American ones on the other. Looking down its side, similarities between the territories appear. The only thing truly separating them is a wall.

Threads Between Us, October 2O25 |
Apparatus Gallery

‘Threads Between Us’ is a two-part exhibition showcasing the work of Effie Jordan, Alisa Welby and Rachel O-Williams developed during their darkroom residencies at Art Hub Studios. The artists are connected through a shared exploration of personal stories, family history, cultural traditions, and ideas of place and memory. From kite flying traditions of Guyana, personal reconnections and portraiture and the cultural significance of how we move within the built environment. Each artist reflects on their time in the darkroom bringing together themes of migration, identity, colonial history, and personal reconnection through richly layered photographic works.
